Inequality

Inequality is one of the big problems facing all of us.

In Australia, the Newstart allowance is about $39 per day. This is not enough to live. Our current Liberal government thinks this is great because they 'don't want people to be comfortable on welfare' they take every opportunity to kick the crap out of anyone who needs a helping hand.

In fact, our current government thinks the way forward is to give tax breaks to companies and the wealthy. They say some of this will go to create jobs and growth but everybody knows the rich did not get rich by giving money away.

Neoliberalism, when defined as, small tax, small government and letting the market to do whatever it wants, encourages the money to collect at the top.

A small group of very rich and powerful people and corporations are exerting power over everything. Their wealth is growing faster by the day, and they are buying even more influence and making the system more and more rigged in their favour.

At some point, this will stop.

Short term thinking will get us all killed

We are told by very believable men in suits that our economy must grow by 3% per annum. This means that every 24 years we double its size. The planet's economy is already large and using a lot of resources. As we go forward, more income will be derived from services but there will still be growth in goods.
