The Northern Lights economies of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark really are based on a free market economy but have a serious welfare state. That is health, education and basic needs are socialised.
They are almost always at the top of the world in terms of overall happiness according to the world happiness report.
Their economies and society are not perfect but they seem to be on to something.
Maybe we should pay close attention and copy them rather than the full-bore capitalist model we are chasing.
Just maybe small tax, small government and letting the market do whatever it wants is not the best way.
